The fictional SOW Practice label already exists. To reproduce that starting state, use an existing harmless test message, create a disposable label, apply it to that message, and hide the label in the label list; this setup is an instruction for the viewer, not a tested live account state. A correct repair changes only that label-list visibility to Show, then finds the same label in the regular left sidebar. The test message remains associated with the same label throughout. Showing a label in the sidebar does not apply it to a message.

The check has three separate parts: label exists in Settings > Labels, label is visible in the sidebar, and the already labeled test message still carries it. If the message was never labeled, the third part is not satisfied by a visibility toggle. This paper exercise and its illustration are not evidence that a live Gmail account was tested.
