# Independent answer check — Outlook rules

| Case | Root cause suggested by the fictional setup | Correct next action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A | The intended rule is disabled. | Use its toggle in Settings > Mail > Rules only if this is the desired behavior, confirm it shows on, then test with a new message. |
| B | A broader earlier rule matches first and stops later rule processing. | Inspect the two conditions and the earlier rule's Stop processing more rules action. Put the specific intended rule first or revise the stop action if appropriate, then test. |
| C | A migrated classic client-side rule cannot be edited or viewed in new Outlook. | Recreate it only with a supported new Outlook condition/action, or use classic Outlook for a truly client-side action. |

The source CSV was checked case by case against [Microsoft's rule repair guide](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/mail/edit-or-fix-a-broken-rule-in-outlook) and [Stop processing more rules guide](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/mail/stop-processing-more-rules-in-outlook) on 12 October 2026. The answers predict where to inspect, not whether a real incoming message would route correctly. No live email was sent. A new incoming test is the only completion check for message routing.
