A legitimate service may open a report in a new window that Chrome blocks. Use the fictional decision card and answer check to practice a narrow, reversible response. The card's portal.example address is reserved for examples and is not a website to visit.
1. Verify the site and the task
Before changing a permission, read the actual site's full address and confirm you expected the report window. Do not grant access to an unfamiliar page or a surprise sign-in dialog. Keep Chrome's general pop-up setting blocked unless you have a separate reason to change it.
2. Inspect the one blocked window
On the trusted site, try the report action. When Chrome shows Pop-up blocked in the address bar, click it and select the blocked link you expected. Google's Chrome instructions describe this route. The icon appears only after a pop-up has been blocked. If the window is wrong, close it and stop.
3. Allow the exact site only if repeated windows are needed
From that blocked-pop-up control, choose Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [the verified site], then Done. Reload the page and retry. Confirm that the intended report opens and its address is correct. A site-specific exception leaves the default blocker for other sites in place.
On a managed work or school browser, an administrator may prevent you from changing this setting. Do not try to bypass a managed restriction.
4. Verify and undo
Check Chrome's Settings > Privacy and security > Site Settings > Pop-ups and redirects and inspect the allowed-site list. Verify the exact site appears, not a broad or mistaken domain. After the task, use the site's More > Block control to remove its allowance. If notifications continue, manage Notifications separately; blocking pop-ups does not revoke a notification subscription.
If the report still fails
First confirm the report action actually triggers a new window and that the correct site is allowed. The problem may be a login, report-generation, or service issue instead of the pop-up blocker. Do not turn on pop-ups globally as a blind fix.
The Chrome pop-up instructions and site-permission instructions were checked 13 October 2026. The companion panels are illustrative diagrams; no live Chrome permission or report result is claimed.
