Create a second Google Calendar for fictional project milestones and verify events are saved to the intended calendar. Download the fictional practice and answer check.
Before starting: Google says a new calendar can be created only in a computer browser, though it appears in Calendar apps afterward. Creating a separate calendar does not share it with anyone automatically. A private fictional Harbor Workshop practice calendar was created in an English browser view; no event was added and no sharing was enabled.
1. Create from a computer browser
Open Google Calendar on a computer. Next to Other calendars on the left, select + > Create new calendar. Google's help says new calendars are created from a browser, even though they can appear later in the mobile app. Name this one Harbor Workshop Milestones and add the fictional description from the practice file.
Checkpoint: Other calendars > plus; Create new calendar; Name and description.
2. Find the new calendar
After creation, return to the calendar list and look under My calendars or the available calendar list. Choose a distinct color so a practice event is easy to identify. A new calendar is not automatically public or shared just because you made it. Leave sharing settings untouched for this exercise; the only purpose is to separate and inspect project dates.
Checkpoint: Locate new calendar; Choose a color; Do not share.
3. Add the fictional milestone
Create an event called Draft review for May 3, 2027, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Before saving, click the calendar name beside the event type, open its down-arrow list, and choose Harbor Workshop Milestones rather than the primary calendar. Leave guests empty. Google's event help documents that calendar selector; the event's title alone does not determine where it is stored.
Checkpoint: Draft review; Select project calendar; No guests.
4. Check the event assignment
Open the saved event and inspect its calendar name or color. It should point to Harbor Workshop Milestones. If it landed on the primary calendar, edit the event and change the calendar field, then save. Keep the practice date and time intact so the answer check is unambiguous. A successful title with the wrong calendar is still a failed organization step.
Checkpoint: Inspect calendar field; Correct if primary; Keep time unchanged.
5. Hide, then show the project layer
In the left calendar list, turn off the project calendar's visibility. The Draft review event should disappear from the current view while primary-calendar events remain. Turn it on again; the fictional event should return. Hiding a calendar is a display choice, not deletion. If the event does not return, check the event's assigned calendar and the displayed date range.
Checkpoint: Hide project calendar; Main calendar remains; Show it again.
Verify the result
The expected exercise outcome is a secondary calendar with one fictional milestone that can be hidden and shown independently. This makes project dates easier to scan without inviting anyone or changing the primary schedule. The practice answer check records the name, event, date, assignment, and visibility result to verify in your own copy. Keep future events on the intended calendar when you create them.
Expected result: A separate calendar named Harbor Workshop Milestones appears in the calendar list. The fictional Draft review event is assigned to that calendar, not the primary calendar. Hiding this calendar hides its event from view while primary-calendar events stay visible; showing it restores the event. No guests are invited and the calendar is not shared.
Official instructions: Create a calendar and create an event on a chosen calendar, checked 15 October 2026. Two actual English Google Calendar captures show the private practice calendar form and successful creation. The event and hide/show steps remain illustrative diagrams and should be checked in the current interface.
