Quick answer. Click each suggestion card separately. Accept the Friday deadline change and reject the digital-ticket change; do not use Accept all. Verify the final text reads exactly as the practice answer.
Put the fictional registration draft into a private Google Doc, then compare the final sentence with the answer check.
Before you start. The changes must be actual Suggesting-mode edits, not ordinary direct edits; ordinary edits are already applied and have no pending Accept/Reject card. Create and review only a private fictional document.
1. Start with the original sentence
Create a private practice Google Doc containing exactly: Registration closes Thursday. Bring printed tickets. The two parts are separate decisions: the deadline was corrected, but the ticket format is still printed. Preserve the original wording until the suggestions are made.
Checkpoint: Original: Thursday and printed.
2. Make two real suggestions
Switch from Editing to Suggesting in the Google Docs toolbar. Change Thursday to Friday, then change printed to digital as a separate suggestion. Google displays each proposed change in its own suggestion card. If the text changed immediately with no card, you were editing directly; Undo and try in Suggesting mode.
Checkpoint: Two independent pending cards.
3. Accept only the deadline correction
Choose Accept on the suggestion that changes Thursday to Friday. Do not use Review suggested edits > Accept all, because the ticket suggestion must be rejected. Read the sentence after this first decision: it should contain Friday while the second proposed edit remains pending.
Checkpoint: Friday accepted; ticket decision still pending.
4. Reject the ticket proposal
Choose Reject on the separate suggestion that changes printed to digital. The original word printed should remain in the document. If you accidentally accepted it, Undo immediately in the practice copy and check the suggestion state again before proceeding.
Checkpoint: Printed remains; digital is not in the final text.
5. Verify the final draft
Read the entire sentence, including punctuation: Registration closes Friday. Bring printed tickets. Confirm the two suggestion cards are no longer pending. This check shows the difference between reviewing individual suggestions and accepting every proposed change at once.
Checkpoint: Exact final sentence; no two pending cards.
Verify the result
After accepting only suggestion A and rejecting B, the final sentence is exactly: Registration closes Friday. Bring printed tickets. There are no pending suggestion cards for those two edits. The edit is in a fictional copy and is not shared publicly.
If it still does not work
If no Accept or Reject card appears, check that the toolbar says Suggesting before making either edit. An ordinary edit has already changed the text; undo it in the practice copy and make the proposal again in Suggesting mode. If you see only one card, make the deadline and ticket changes as two separate suggestions. If the final sentence says digital tickets, the ticket proposal was accepted or the text was edited directly: compare with the untouched practice text, correct the private copy, then verify the exact result, Registration closes Friday. Bring printed tickets., with neither practice suggestion pending.
