A scheduled Gmail message is waiting to be sent. If you need to change it, cancel the schedule first. Gmail returns it to a draft, where you can edit the text or recipient, then choose whether to schedule it again. This tutorial uses a fictional message addressed only to yourself. Its video panels are labelled illustrative diagrams; no live inbox capture is included.
Find the pending message
Open Gmail on a computer. In the left panel, choose Scheduled. Select the message with the subject Practice: workshop seats update and check its scheduled time. Gmail uses the time zone selected when you schedule the message, and it may send a few minutes after that time. If you do not see Scheduled, expand the left navigation first.
Cancel the schedule so you can edit
At the top right of the scheduled message, choose Cancel send. Gmail's documented result is that the email becomes a draft. This is the crucial state change: it is no longer queued to send at the previous time. Inspect the draft before changing anything else.
Change the fictional body from five fictional seats to six fictional seats. You can also correct the recipient or subject. For a real message, recheck all three before scheduling it again.
Choose the final state
If you still want the message sent later, select the arrow beside Send, choose Schedule send, and choose the new date and time. Return to Scheduled to check the new time. If you do not want it sent, leave it as a draft or discard that draft. Do not leave the fictional practice message scheduled. For the optional rescheduling exercise, cancel it again before ending the session.

Common questions
Can I edit a scheduled email directly? Gmail's documented route is Cancel send, edit the resulting draft, then schedule again if you still want it sent later.
Does Cancel send delete the email? No. Gmail says it becomes a draft.
Why is the time surprising? Confirm the time zone shown while scheduling. The message follows that time zone, and delivery can occur a few minutes after the scheduled time.
